Mit ihren ortsspezifischen Interventionen greift die Künstlerin Karin Sander in die Strukturen von Räumen und Institutionen ein, verändert sie, kontextualisiert sie neu und lädt zu ihrer partizipatorischen Aneignung ein. In dieser monografisch angelegten Publikation verfährt die Künstlerin ebenso mit der ARCH+ und entwickelt einen Zusammenhang zwischen den Heftseiten und der Wand als konstitutivem künstlerischem und raumbildendem Element. Hierbei spielt Karin Sanders Werkgruppe "kitchen pieces" (ab 2012) eine zentrale Rolle und wird in diesem Zusammenhang erstmalig umfangreich publiziert. Daneben reflektiert die Monografie ihren gemeinsam mit Philip Ursprung konzipierten Beitrag "Neighbours" für den Schweizer Pavillon auf der Architekturbiennale in Venedig 2023, der die trennende Mauer zum Nachbarpavillon buchstäblich auflöste. Als Ausblick fragt die Publikation nach dem Statuswandel der Wand, die sich in der 3D-Scan-basierten Arbeitsweise und Forschung der Künstlerin und ihres Le hrstuhls an der ETH Zürich in Daten verwandelt.
With her site-specific interventions, the artist Karin Sander intervenes in the structures of spaces and institutions, changes them, re-contextualizes them and calls for their participatory appropriation. In this monographic publication, the artist does the same with ARCH+ and develops a connection between the pages of the magazine and the wall as a constitutive artistic and space-forming element. Karin Sander's work group "kitchen pieces" (from 2012) plays a central role here and is published extensively for the first time in this context. The monograph also reflects on her contribution "Neighbors", conceived together with Philip Ursprung for the Swiss Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2023, which literally dissolved the dividing wall to the neighboring pavilion. As an outlook, the publication explores the changing status of the wall, which is transformed into data in the 3D scan-based working methods and research of the artist and her chair at ETH Zurich.
